Prayers and Traditional Sacredness
From the 1887 St. Vincent's Manual that contains selections of Prayers and Devotional Exercises.
It was the prayer book created for the Sisters of Charity in the United States. Today, these women lovingly and selflessly serve Our Lord by devoting their life and gifts to others.
Sweet Jesus, Divine Spouse of my soul...while vesting myself with this beloved garment of my cherished alliance to thee, I humbly supplicate thee, to preserve unsullied the nuptial robe, with which thou didst invest my unworthy soul, on the blessed day of my happy consecration to thee!
(Remember these prayers written over one hundred years ago by the women who were once dear nuns. Many of little sisters although not any longer with us on earth, are continuing to serve and pray for us from their place with God.)
In honor and in thankfulness for those sisters either with us today in the flesh or with us in spirit, have serve God, the Church, and us. W must take willingly and with love, now assist them or even take over many of their once performed tasks. These tasks or duties include educating our children, serving the poor and the sick, and encouraging those who suffer mentally, spiritually, and physically. We too wear habits. They are held closely to our heads, our hearts, and our feet. These habits are not visible to the outer world, but seen by heaven and worn by our acts of charity to each other.
